This year the event was held on the 30th and 31st January 2015 located at the Richard Attenborough Stage at Pinewood Studios UK.

Exhibitors included a host of Global suppliers from UK, Germany, France, Belgium and USA to name just a few. There was also a comprehensive seminar and workshop programme.

Holden UK were showing the fantastic Quadrus System on their stand. The Quadrus Ingest Machine is a powerful and flexible multi-channel, multi-format recording software.

quadrus-Machine-tower-250pxIt can capture multiple SD/HD-SDI streams from live or deck sources directly to the Avid Unity ISIS and check-in to the Avid Interplay.

Ingest Machine supports such innovative capabilities as scheduled capture, optional fallback storage and multi-camera control. As well as replacing 4 professional VTRs, this pre-configured system is a versatile streaming solution and a powerful transcoding system. It’s ideal for multi-camera productions or large archiving projects.

ARRI showed the fantastic ARRI AMIRA camera on their stand. This is a documentary-style camera that records HD1080 or 2K images onto in-camera CFast 2.0 flash memory cards.

Amira-IBC-2014_300pxShooting Partners were excited to hear that some exciting announcements are coming from ARRI regarding the AMIRA in the next few weeks. Follow us on twitter for updates @shootingpartner

Combining the same sensor as the ALEXA with affordable CFast 2.0 workflows and an ergonomic design optimised for single-operator use, this camera is still set to make a big impact on the industry. The AMIRA has certainly made an impact on the current documentary market, but focused towards high end productions. Future settings and record methods may look towards addressing storage and post production costs on a tighter budget. We are sure that the AMIRA will continue to go from strength to strength.

The CVP Group stand featured a great selection of products including the new Sony PXW-FS7 camera.

PXW-FS7 XDCAM camera has an ergonomic grip design for easy handling and easy operation, making it ideal for one-man operation in situations where the extraordinary flexibility of its α Mount lens system ( A-Mount lenses require LA-EA4 lens adapter) and compatible interchangeable lenses can be used to maximum advantage.

The PXW-FS7 features a 4K Super 35mm Exmor CMOS sensor and support for shooting in 4K (QFHD 3840 x 2160 resolution from launch. 4096 x 2160 resolution with firmware update, early 2015), 60p or Full HD at high frame rates up to 180 fps (frames per second).

Select-able recording formats include XAVC, which supports 4K 60p, Full HD 60p even in 4:2:2 10-bit recording, as well as the common MPEG-2 HD 422 format used by many broadcast stations around the world. Attach an optional Extension Unit (XDCA-FS7) to open up the possibilities of multi-camera shooting and ProRes 422 encoding (with firmware update, early 2015).

Connect an HXR-IFR5 interface and AXS-R5 recorder to support parallel recording and 4K/2K RAW recordings up to 240fps in 2K.
