The Panasonic P2 Series is a system of professional broadcast video products which utilize solid-state memory instead of tape for recording video.
P2 stands for "Professional Plug-in," referring to the removable flash memory cards which plug into slots on P2 equipment.
The P2 card is extremely rugged, enabling the P2 camcorder to achieve outstanding anti-vibration performance. Because the P2 card includes no moving parts, it can function in a greater variety of operating conditions than competing tape-based and disc-based solutions. The P2 card is less susceptible to physical damage as well.

Other advantages of P2 camcorders include, lower power consumption (20W) during recording with out the LCD screen out. Instant recording available straight after powering up. Clip Thumbnail Function, allowing the user to view clips or use in non linear editing and a hot swap feature.
There are several ways of transferring the card data from the camera:
- A P2 Drive which can be installed into your PC tower or used as a stand alone unit connected to your PC via a USB cable. The Drive will only read the card data, it will not store any information.
- The Store (ideal for location work) will store all card data until you get to the edit allowing you to re-use the cards again.
- The P2 card also mounts directly into one of our special laptops, so you have instant access for non-linear editing and for transferring data with no digitisation required (also ideal for location work).
