David Attenborough’s Natural History Museum Alive 3D.

Shooting Partners and Anna Valley were chosen by SKY Creative Events to provide the video coverage and 3D projection and system for the gala preview screening of: David Attenborough’s Natural History Museum Alive 3D.

Special guests were The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, with Sir David Attenborough and Dr Michael Dixon, Museum Director, was also in attendance.

Anna Valley specified the DP Titan Super Quad projectors onto a specially constructed 3D screen material for the main presentation; this was combined with Shooting Partner’s six camera full broadcast HD PPU set up including Barco Screen Pro control, HD camera channels, HD remote head and radio cameras to capture the evening both for archive and a live feed of the stage presentations in 2D.

NHM_250pxWhat made this event particularly challenging was the extremely tight time contraints for rig and rehearsal, particularly ensuring the 3D being pixel perfect on the 7m wide 16 x9 screen, plus the very long throw distance of 28m between the projectors and the screen.

The amazing 3D program was produced by Colossus Productions (a joint venture between Atlantic Productions and SKY 3D) in collaboration with the Natural History Museum scientists.
