Skype is a communications platform with over 600 million users and was bought by Microsoft in 2011 for $8.5 billion.

Daily highlights packages were constructed from three experienced crews shooting key note speeches, product demonstrations and customer feedback sessions over a three day period. The high definition material was edited on-site, with a quick turnaround deadline, in order to pal out on the high res LED screen the next morning.

Sony’s XDCAM system was the format of choice due to the high quality pictures and audio capture, plus flexibility and robustness. 50GB discs were used to record and transfer to the edit suite then boxed as an archive copy for the client to take away. Shooting Partners have become a well trusted supplier of XDCAM equipment over the years since the products launch in 2003. The XDCAM range includes cameras and decks which act as drop-in replacements for traditional VTRs allowing XDCAM discs to be used within a traditional videotape-based workflow. These decks can also serve as random access computer hard drives for easy import of the video data files into non-linear editing systems (NLE) via FireWire (IEEE 1394) and Ethernet.
