The Boy Who Can’t Forget

British student Aurelian claims to be able to remember everything that’s ever happened to him. He can remember what he watched on TV on April 15 1997, as well as what he had for breakfast on October 27 2004, etc.  The Boy Who Can’t Forget explores the lives of people living with superior autobiographic memory. The programme also features an interview with American school administrator Jill Price, the first person to be diagnosed with the condition, who reveals how not being able to forget has affected her life.

Shooting Partners supplied the popular Canon EOS C300 to Studio Lambert for this fantastic documentary. The camera was put to great use by exploiting the depth of field capabilities that come with the superb large imaging chip. Many users have found this depth of field capability to be a great asset when shooting in smaller rooms with no space to play with behind the camera and thus control focus. The production also made good use of GoPro camera to create a ‘covert’ camera look and quick and easy Sennheiser radio mic kits.

The compact form factor of the C300 also made it an ideal camera to take on flights abroad, as this show had sections shot in the USA. If required, the camera is also capable of dual record, meaning the same footage can be captured onto two compact flash cards at the same time. This means one card can stay with the operator / Director and the other sent back to base for copying or archive.

Canon have a gigantic stock of EF mount lenses available worldwide. EF stands for “Electro-Focus”: Automatic focusing on EF lenses is handled by a dedicated electric motor built into the lens. A popular ‘package’ of EF lenses available with our Canon EOS C300 stock would be 16-35mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm f 2.8

‘The Boy Who Can’t Forget’ is a documentary for Channel 4 HD and began on Tuesday 25th September at 9pm
